The ruff scruffy look is really emphasised in this print which was done on white board for a teacher, kind of liked it, kind of didnt

I was looking for an interesting but simple text on the website Dafont.com and came across the font called Reckoner. Some how decided that it would look good upside down as well. It was curious because it being landscape, it was even more beautiful portrait, it looked like some sore of pacific pattern. I printed in black first, loved it but it wasn't enough, added some pink to it and loved it even more. There are white patches that are a result of a dirty screen, but i liked it with the patches it gave it a scruffy rustic look. 

Proccess

My first print before i exposed and printed etc. I was playing around with possible colours to use. I basically done this my leaving the image off the internet as the first layer. Then i used the two pen tools to outline the eye brows, lips, face hair and so on. On my prints i only wanted the hair to be coloured so i left the face white.

Most of the designs i chose have an obvious line in the middle of the image going downwards.

The lion is the centre of the image but the tree just makes a strong line along the side of the image which makes it off centred. 

Initially my eyes were drawn to the pink flower that is more to the right

I think the colours interrupts the 9 panels, but there is a an alignment with the crease of the cardboard

the image overall in more higher on the right side than the left side. 

Coni Della Vedova

The phrase is what caught my eye, but the calligraphy was interesting to look at, all the exaggerated flicks and swirls. I would have printed black though.

Other assesment

This is the print i used for an assessment for our Pacific art history class. We had to create a academic poster that somehow related to an artist that came to our class to speak to us. My poster was printed on a t-shirt, which relates to Siliga David Setoga.

3 olour Prints

I was initially inspired by Chris Brown's work on instagram, and took the idea of using black and white as skin colour and play and change the colour of Marilyn Monroe's hair. I also made another layer with dots for the hair to make the 3rd layer, it gave it a comic book feel and it reminds me of pop art. I liked these a lot more than my first prints because there is a lot more black.

The image on the left has the hair and dots layer on top of the bitmap layer, this came out okay but still not happy. The Image of the right was perfect to me, absolutely loved the result.

Played with different colours and the dot layer was put over the top of everything, worked okay

The Bitmap print by itself.
With the right image i printed the pink hair layer then the gold dots, then i taped the hair out of the bitmap layer and printed the face only. Really liked it !

Thought about switching the light and dark colours up and it resulted with a negative effect.
The top image was a black hair print. them a white bitmap layer then just the face in black again

Kind of liked them at first, i liked how clean they were, didn't really like the colours i used, not enough black.
I done about 3 more but i using different colour still wasn't satisfying.

Shepard Fairey

Shepard Fairey is a American contemporary artists who is 45 years old, and works with public art, illustrator, and graphic designer

I like the use of black in this really effective, and i like that a lot of the image is black

I like his work because its simple and effective. Simple because i think he uses only about 4 different prints. Effective because it doesn't have bright colours, the colours are a little dull, besides the red. I also like it because it looks easy.

Research

 I like this work done by Chris Brown because i like the contrast in the black and white skin tone and colours used to represent the hair on his face or the objects he is wearing.

Brief explanation of how to do it:
1. get two images (black and white)
2. make the backgrounds white
3. figure out where you want them positioned
4. add layer mask on background image then hide image
5. click on front image, click edit, define brush preset
6. make another layer and make it white
7. then select your brush and click once on top the background image
